August Indian Music Course

MUS 5950 SEC 002
Aug. 6-16
1-5 PM, M-F
Professor Matt Rahaim
mrahaim@umn.edu

This two-week intensive course is an introduction to Hindustani music: the raga music of North India, one of the great classical music traditions of the world.

Through close listening, language study, and (above all) daily practice, we will establish a firm practical and conceptual foundation in raga music.

Students of all skill levels (including complete beginners) are welcome to join. We will sing every day. Students may also choose to focus on learning tabla, harmonium, violin, or other instruments.
