East India Company Archives and other Electronic Resources for South Asia

With the recent addition of East India Company Archives, we now have five electronic collections relevant to South Asia.  You can click on the links below to get to any of them.

  • East India Company: collection of India Office Records from the British Library, London charting the history of British trade and rule in the Indian subcontinent and beyond from 1600 to 1947.

  • Times of India Historical Archive:  Digital archive of the Times of India (1838-2007)


  • India, Raj and Empire:  National Library of Scotland collection documenting the foundation of the East India Company in 1615 to the granting of independence for India and Pakistan in 1947.


  • Access World News: Research Collection:  Full-text current current news for over 9,000 sources including U.S. and international news sources, major wire services, and hundreds of local broadcasting outlets and blogs, including more than 400 South Asian sources.


  • South Asian Newspapers -19th & 20th Century:  South Asian Newspapers includes searchable 19th and 20th century newspapers from South Asia.
