Development in the Tribal Areas of Pakistan: A Gender Perspective

Abstract:  The Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan (FATA) presents a unique challenge for development practitioners and government of Pakistan because of its administrative structure which is different than the rest of the country, its geopolitical significance, its unique tribal cultural challenges, and its unique set of gender-related problems. Through a case study entitled "Governance Support Project" which is an outcome of the post-crisis needs assessment, Ms. Tallat will share her personal experience of challenges and way forward at the Planning and Development Department FATA, Government of Pakistan.

Ms. Hina Tillat is a Hubert H. Humphrey International Fellow at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota. She has a Master of Development Studies from University of Melbourne, Australia and M.Sc Psychology from University of Peshawar, Pakistan.
